You have just entered Jon Drinnon's English web site. I designed this site with you, the student, in mind, to provide you with my class schedule and office hours, course information, assignments and handouts, and web links to campus and Internet resources on writing and literature. As the web aficionados put it, this is a "deep" site with links to additional internal pages, which in their turn provide English resources and link you to other sites around Merritt College, and the Internet. There are worlds within worlds, all within the larger universe that has come to be known as the World Wide Web. Enjoy the voyage! I have tried to make the pathways intuitive so that all—novice and experienced web traveler alike—would be able to negotiate the vastness that lies within. If you take the time to look, you will find resources on writing essays, sentence combining, and proofreading issues with practice exercises. You can also find sources on Modern Language Association (MLA) documentation and easy connections to research sites and web search tutorials. If you have questions or suggestions don't hesitate to email me by clicking on my email address below the picture of me with my family.

Jon "Takes" Diego

If you click on the Diego Rivera mural at the top of the page, "Sangre de los Mártires" (Blood of the Martyrs), you will be whisked to the spectacular world of Diego Rivera's art, the Diego Rivera Museum, and if you click on the artist's palette, I will show you the pictures I took of Diego Rivera's murals en el Palacio Nacional in Mexico City (summer of 2004). Rivera shows the high regard he has for those willing to sacrifice themselves for a just cause by this poignant mural. How would you interpret the symbols that it contains?
